Pratap Bahnu Mehta
Pratap Bhanu Mehta is director of the Centre for Policy Research
in New Delhi. One of his most recent books is The burden of democracy.
In it he argues that the democratic experiment in India has been
impressive en has had a positive effect on the country but that it no
longer functions well. This is due to chronic inequality in Indian
society, along with a lack of accountability.
